Workshops
On occasion Candy offers opportunities to help you with YOUR painting. These three hour sessions take place outdoors, en plein air, and go through the process of creating dynamic, light-filled paintings on location. Her high energy workshops focus on broadening your understanding of the oil medium and use of color, as well as your own technical process. All skill levels are welcome.
Candy begins each class with a demonstration/ lecture covering tools, techniques, brushwork, problems and solutions. Emphasis throughout the class is on organization and simplification of darks and lights, value and color relationships, edges, movement and shapes to create a dynamic, coherent composition.
Candy Barr’s energetic style and enthusiasm for painting and teaching create an infectious atmosphere of adventure and “can do” among her students. She has taught drawing and painting for more than 30 years, including The Vermont Arts Council school residencies throughout the state and as a Goddard College faculty member.
